A Brief Introduction To Yunnan University
Yunnan University was founded in 1922. As one of the earliest comprehensive universities established in southwest boundary area of China, it was listed as one of the 15 world famous Chinese universities in the Concise Britain Encyclopedia in 1946. In 1990's, it was ranked as one of Chinese key university construction projects known as "211 project". Since its establishment, Yunnan University has followed the motto: "Assembling the best of all schools to serve the world with altruistic pursuits".
Yunnan University has now owned 16 faculties with1100 teaching staff, among whom 259 are full time professors, 387 are associate professors, 55 are Ph. D. supervisors; 2 key subjects at national level; 13 doctoral programs, one first class subject doctoral program, 2 mobile stations for post-doctors, one post -doctoral work program, sponsored by enterprises. Besides, Yunnan University has 50 Master programs, which include MBA, Law Master degree, Master degree for vocational teachers and so on. It also has formed 3 national teaching and research training bases, which include history, biology, mathematics and physics. At present, the university students are 11000, graduated students are 1300, and the student's number for adult education is 9000.
Situated at Green Lake Park of Kunming, the External Spring City, Yunnan University has a beautiful campus with many buildings, such as the large-scale library with a variety of books, a modern science hall, a main teaching building, a lab center, an internet center, a visual and aural lab building, a hotel for internship and so on. In teaching, Yunnan University has carried out the credit system; in industry development, Yunnan University has owned one listed company in a stock exchange with the high -tech products; in cultivating students' practicing and innovative abilities, Yunnan University has been awarded "Challenge Cup" and "Excelling Cup", the two titles from the whole country's university students competition..
The developmental object of Yunnan University is to build it into a national key and comprehensive university, top in the west part of China, advanced in China and well known in the world.
A Brief Introduction to Business and Tourism Management School
According to the principle of "Taking Teaching as the Base, Conducting Scientific Research as the Footstone, and Serving the
Enterprise as the Supplement", the Business and Tourism Management School of Yunnan University has formed its school running patterns and system. That is taking business management as its base, and taking tourism management as its characteristics. So far, the school has 4 departments, which are Business Management Department, Tourism Management Department, Hotel Management Department and Financial Management Department. In addition, the school has 2 institutes, which are Tourism Research Institute and Economic Management Institute. As to degree programs, there are Enterprise Management, Tourism Management, Financial Management, Economic History and MBA. The four fields of studies for undergraduates are Business Management, Tourism management, Financial Management and Electronic Business. Among them, Business Management and Tourism Management are the two provincial key subjects. The school is authorized by China's Education Committee as one of the 13 universities, which provide Master courses for secondary vocational teachers. The school is also listed by China's State Tourism Administration Department as the authorized unit for training tourism professionals.
In the school there are 54 faculties, among whom 18 are full time professors, 21 are associate professors; 16 are Doctors, 27 are Masters. In the last few years, more than 100 works, translated works and textbooks, and more than 350 research papers have been published, more than 50 of which have been awarded by the state or provincial government. At present, the number of students is 1200, among whom 200 are graduates. The school has been equipped with modern facilities, such as multi-media rooms, an electronic reading room, a reference room and a hotel for internship. The school has established comprehensive
academic exchange programs and co-operations with many universities and institutes both at home and abroad.
The school takes teaching, scientific researching and industry serving as a trinity. With the spirits of "disciplined scholarly research, diligent truth- seeking and innovation", the school will be built into a key base for cultivating MBA students in the southwest area of China.
